[Australia] Youngcare PhD Scholarships UQ Business School

Youngcare PhD Scholarships In a partnership with the University of Queensland, Youngcare have provided funding for two PhD Scholarships in two areas:

  • Social Innovation, to be undertaken in the UQ Business School; and
  • Pathways and Choices for Young People with High Care Needs, to be undertaken in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Role:

  • The PhD scholar in Social Innovation will undertake study towards a PhD that will examine the
  • changing nature of not-for-profit organisations in Australia, with Youngcare being one of the organisations to be researched. The project will explore the need for these organisations to have structures, systems, people and strategies that enable them to operate sustainably in the highly competitive not-for-profit sector with its complex public - private - community sector interactions.
  • The PhD scholar in Pathways and Choices for Young People with High Care Needs will undertake research towards a PhD that investigates the experiences of young people with high care needs and their families, and in particular what factors influence the pathways that young people take when care needs change. The project will examine the lived experiences of individuals and families as they make decisions about the transition from home to residential care with the aim of informing future service development.

The Person:
Candidates for these PhD Scholarships will need to have completed at least an Undergraduate Degree with 2a or First-Class Honours, a Research only Masters degree, or a Coursework Masters degree with a substantial research thesis. Preferred fields of study are business management, allied health or disability services.

Remuneration:
The scholarships are valued at $25,000 p.a. (tax exempt) for a period of 3.5 years with a possible extension of six months. Limited funding is available for research support and some travel associated with the project.
