[Australia] Postdoctoral Fulbright Scholarships for Australian
The Fulbright Program aims to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and thereby to increase the chance that nations will learn at last to live in peace and friendship. Fulbright Scholarships are available to Australian citizens from all fields to undertake research or study in the United States for 3-12 months.
Deadline: August 31 2009
Eligibility:
- Nationality: Applicants must be Australian citizens by birth or naturalisation.
- Interview requirements: Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Scholarship applicants are required to attend an interview, in their state of residence, if they are short-listed. The interviews are conducted by State Selection Committees in late September and early October annually - see timeline for specific dates.
- Medical requirement: Applicants must complete and pass the medical examination before a Scholarship offer can be finalised.
Selection Criteria:
- High academic and professional merit
- Applicants must have a record of achievement in their chosen field, such as academic record, professional recognition, publications, exhibitions, performances or presentations.
- Applicant proposals need to be feasible and relevant to the interests of the applicant, along with Australia and the United States.
- Proposals should identify:
- An educational component of study and / or research
- Define and outline goals of the program and the role of the United States and its institutions in achieving these goals.
- Define the relevance and value of the program to further the mutual understanding and relationships between the United States and Australia
- Potential outcomes
- Define the potential benefits to the applicant's institution, employer and/or industry.
- Outline how results and/or outcomes will be disseminated.
- Outline the long term links that may be established at a personal, industry and professional level.
Timeline for 2010 Scholarship selection
- June 1 2009: Applications open
- August 31 2009: Applications close
- September - October 2009: State Selection Committees conduct interviews of short listed POSTGRADUATE and POSTDOCTORAL applicants ONLY.
