[Greece] Hellenic Aid Scholarships for Developing Country 2010/2011
Hellenic Aid grants approximately 100 scholarships to foreign and expatriate students deriving from developing countries for graduate and postgraduate studies at Greek universities and technological education institutes.
The Scholarships Programme includes all tertiary educational institutions and subjects, except from graduate studies in Theology (the relevant scholarships are granted by the Directorate for Religious and Ecclesiastic Affairs of the MFA) and Fine Arts as well as postgraduate studies in Medicine.
Within the framework of Hellenic Development Cooperation and Assistance, Hellenic Aid grants for the academic year 2010—2011, 100 scholarships for studies in Greece to nationals of countries included in the list of the Development Assistance Committee of OECD.
Scholarships are granted for undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Greek Higher Academic and Technological institutions.
Scholarships are not provided for a) undergraduate studies in Theology (scholarships in this sector are granted by the Directorate for Religious and Ecclesiastic Affairs of the MFA) and Fine Arts. (b) postgraduate studies in Medicine. Medical specialties are under the authority of the Ministry of Health.
All interested students should submit a complete candidature file (scholarship application accompanied by the necessary supporting documents) to the above-mentioned Greek authorities in their country of origin. The latter shall forward the whole number of files to Hellenic Aid.
The deadline for submitting applications to the Greek authorities abroad is July 30, 2010.
Hellenic Aid evaluates all submitted applications, selects the scholars and announces the results to successful applicants via the Greek authorities in the recipient countries, around September.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Over the years, my country Liberia has suffered a lot especially economically in the hands of the so-called elite politicians - living no room for us the less fortunate to effect any meaningful change.
The cycle of political dynasty has become the cankerworm to our development in every sphere of life. Politicians send their children abroad to acquire the best education with the sole intent to succeed them in power. With this intent at the back of their mind, little or no attention is paid towards improving the schooling system in our country. Teachers are paid a monthly salary as low as USD80.00; no library to enhance our studies; no research centers; no electricity; as such, we come out of school/college/university without fulfilling the criteria to govern.
Political dynasty/nepotism was one of the key reasons why our country fought a civil war. Less fortunate who felt disadvantaged by these politicians and things violence is the only way to achieve their destiny took up arms to fight those in authority. In the process many innocents lost their precious life including my poor mother. Initially, I thought the war could have served as a deterrent to these politicians but to no avail. The war in fact added more sorrows to our sorrows.
However I have come to the conclusion; it is a deliberate attempt by these politicians to keep the standard of education low so as to disable our ability in challenging them on key issues that will bring about change. Thus political dynasty/nepotism continues unaffected.
Therefore I have thought it fit to set up an organisation called Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) to face with the problems associated with the above subject matter head on. But I am handicap finanacially to pursue the highiest in education. Since I earned a diploma in Management Accounting through a scholarship from the London Chamber of Commerce and Idustry (LCCI), I am yet to go beyond diploma because of lack of support.
I should be grateful if you can assist me getting a scholarship to accomplish my dream.

Iam a school 2009 leaver from Zambia who applied for a scholarship through our Ministry of Education for a degree in pharmacy in Greece. I have been patiently waiting for a response since that time (July) but it has been quiet from that side. Have the applicants been awarded the scholarships for 2010 already?
