To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Ipswich Art Gallery in 2009, the Ipswich Arts Foundation is offering a scholarship to an undergraduate student who is currently undertaking full-time tertiary studies in the areas of Art History, Visual Arts or Design.

Eligibility
The candidate for the scholarship must be:

  1. an Australian citizen or a permanent resident residing within the Ipswich City Council boundaries
  2. enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or post graduate program which includes studies such as Art History, Visual Arts or Design at a University, TAFE or other higher education institution in South East Queensland.

Information

  1. To assist in the selection process, the Ipswich Arts Foundation will establish a selection committee comprising the President of the Ipswich Arts Foundation, Director Ipswich Art Gallery and others as nominated by the Ipswich Arts Foundation.
  2. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the selection committee, to the applicant showing the greatest merit, as demonstrated by:
    1. Academic achievement,
    2. Personal qualities, including community involvement, career aspirations, and artistic merit or art practice, Personal statement, 1000 words or less demonstrating how the scholarship funds will benefit future study and what relevance the recipient’s study has to Ipswich cultural heritage and the arts in Ipswich,
    3. Other evidence as may be deemed relevant to the professional success of the application.
  3. Applications must be lodged with, and by the date set by, the Ipswich Arts Foundation (Wednesday 30 September 2009).
  4. The 2010 scholarship is tenable for the 2010 academic year, subject to satisfactory academic progress and continued full time enrolment at University. Satisfactory academic progress means maintaining a GPA of at least 4 each semester.
  5. A recipient failing to maintain satisfactory academic progress may be required to show cause why the scholarship should not be cancelled.
  6. The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with another scholarship that is designed to support study in the visual arts and design.
